About Us

Mitch Thompson – Co-Founder

I'm an industrial designer and co-founder of SquatSeat. My interest in health and wellness started when I began having terrible back and hip pain from sitting all day at my computer, in the car, and basically everywhere else.

That was a wake-up call. I knew I had to be more mindful of how I was spending my time, both when working and resting. I started stretching regularly, which eventually led me to yoga. Over time, the pain went away, and I became much more aware of how my body feels especially when I’m sitting too much or falling into bad posture.

Years later, I started seeing more people on social media talking about mobility, movement, and long-term health, their content really clicked with me.

That’s when I reached out to John from Movement Journey. I told him I was a product designer and that I’d love to work together on something meaningful and that’s where our collaboration began.

John Lindsey – Co-Founder

When I was in grad school working as a personal trainer, I hit a surprising roadblock. I couldn’t touch my toes, squat past 90 degrees, and often dealt with nagging back pain after workouts. For someone who made a living helping others move, I realized I had to address my own limitations first. That led me to dive deep into mobility training, experiment with new approaches, and make lifestyle changes to restore how my body was meant to move.

One of the most powerful breakthroughs came from something simple: spending more time in a squat. Learning to sit in a full resting squat and using an assisted squat as a stepping stone transformed how my hips, back, and entire body felt. Over time, I built not only better mobility but also a healthier, more durable body. For more than a decade I’ve been sharing my Movement Journey and helping others move better so they can live more. That personal journey is exactly why I’m so passionate about SquatSeat.
